Error codeF2
ApplianceRange
F2 changes meaning with the model series. Look at the number on your range first.
Model numbers starting 721 (electric, and gas with two ovens)
Meaning: the sensor in the top oven is faulty. F1 and F8 are listed beside it for this fault.
Manual step: pull the plug and have the resistance of the sensor read. A good top oven sensor shows 1,090 ohms at 77 F; more than 100 ohms away from that and it is replaced.
Kenmore 362 freestanding range
F2 here is an oven over-temperature message. The manual separates two cases.
The cavity truly ran too hot: a relay is probably stuck on the electronic control board, and the board is replaced.
The cavity is cool to the touch: suspect the sensor itself. With the range unplugged, the sensor is detached and measured.
An abnormal reading ends with a new sensor; a normal one sends attention back to the electronic control board.
F3 means a stuck key on Elite 721 ranges and an oven sensor failure on 362 and 790 models.
Kenmore range repair in San Francisco
Sensor and control board tests on a Kenmore range are handled through Kenmore range repair for homes in San Francisco and the Bay Area. When you call (415) 825-6393, say whether the oven actually got too hot, and give the model number prefix (721 or 362).
Model compatibility: Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
