What F19 tells you
F19 appears on Kenmore Elite ranges with a model number that begins 721, and it reports a lower cavity that is failing to heat. Only three codes ever show in everyday use on this control: F3, F9 and F19. Electric and double-oven gas versions get different checks.
Electric 721 range
- Try the top oven and the cooktop burners. When none of them warm up, the range could be getting 120 volts where it needs 240.
- Go to the breaker panel in the house and flip both of the range’s breakers off and on; a tripped one is not always obvious.
- Elements still cold? Pull the plug and examine how the cord wires sit on the terminal block. Loose ones go back on; a damaged cord is replaced.
Beyond that, the manual wants a technician, because measuring live voltage wrongly is dangerous.
If just the bottom cavity is cold, unplug the range and inspect the harness wiring that links the lower bake element with the relay control board. Two parts are then measured by a technician: the lower bake element should read near 22 ohms and is replaced if the meter shows infinite resistance, and the lower oven sensor should read 1,090 ohms at 77 F and is replaced if it is off by more than 100 ohms.
Double-oven gas 721 range
- Turn on a cooktop burner to learn whether gas is arriving. No flame means the shutoff valve for the range supply needs opening.
- With a burner flame present, the bottom bake igniter is next in line; it ought to glow white-hot as bake starts. The igniter is wired in series with the safety gas valve, and the valve will not open until the igniter is hot enough.
- Meter values for the technician: the bake igniter measures 45 to 400 ohms and is replaced if infinite, and the lower bake gas valve measures 1 to 3 ohms.
Related Kenmore range codes
- F18 is the lower oven sensor or board code that sits right before it.
- F9 is another code this control shows in regular use.
- F3 is the third, a stuck key message on this series.
Kenmore range repair for a cold lower oven in San Francisco
If the lower oven of your Kenmore Elite range stays cold, Kenmore range repair covers electric and gas ranges in San Francisco and across the Bay Area. When you ring (415) 825-6393, mention whether the range is electric or gas, the model number and what the breaker or burner test showed.
Model compatibility: Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F19 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
