ApplianceRange
An oven that has passed 600 F and keeps heating is what F010 reports on a Kenmore range. Ranges affected: the 790 freestanding family, and the Elite slide-in electrics numbered 790.4131, 790.4255 and 790.5256.
Cut the power
Disconnect the range from electrical power straight away. The oven should not be used while the temperature is running away.
Two parts, two checks
With the power disconnected, a technician measures the resistance of the oven temperature sensor probe. At room temperature it should read about 1,100 ohms; any other reading means the probe is replaced.
A healthy probe with an oven that still overheats points to a stuck relay on the relay control board, and that board is the part replaced. On the slide-in the manual also says oven control board.
Codes to compare
F018: relay control board failure, the board that holds the suspect relay.
F019: the interface board cannot configure that relay control board.
F011: a key held down on the keypad, a separate control fault.
Kenmore range service in San Francisco
A range that overheats should be looked at by a technician, and for Kenmore range repair in San Francisco and around the Bay Area you can ring (415) 825-6393. Keep the code F010, the range model number and a note of whether power has been disconnected to hand when you call.
Model compatibility: Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F010 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
