Kenmore Range F5 Error Code

Kenmore repair checklist · San Francisco Bay Area

VERIFIED

Error code F5
Appliance Range

Same letter, different part

Whether F5 means a sensor or a board depends on the series printed in the model number. A 721 prefix, on an Elite electric range or a double-oven gas range, blames the lower oven temperature sensor. A 362 freestanding range blames the electronic control board.

If it is a 721

A technician unplugs the range and reads the lower sensor. The target is 1,090 ohms at 77 degrees F, and a sensor more than 100 ohms away from it is replaced.

If it is a 362

The first move is something an owner can do. Unplug the range, give it 3 minutes to reset the board, and plug it in again. A returning F5 means a replacement electronic control board.

  • F5 00: user interface board and oven control board no longer communicating.
  • F5/E0: door open while the latch reads locked.
