Error code F022
Appliance Range

Two circuit boards in a Kenmore range, the interface board and the relay board, have lost contact with each other. That is the meaning of F022. The manual includes it for the 790 freestanding line and for the Elite slide-in electrics 790.4131, 790.4255 and 790.5256.

Working through it

  1. Switch the range off at the power source for half a minute, then switch it on.
  2. If F022 is still displayed, inspect the harness connectors between the two boards. Connectors that have come loose are pushed home; a harness showing damage is replaced.
  3. With the harness in order, the relay board is the next part replaced.
  4. Then, if the problem remains, the interface board.

Slide-in manuals name the interface board the oven user interface board, and the sequence is unchanged.

Related codes

  • F023: the same interface board losing contact with the touch panel.
  • F025: communication with the relay board could not be started.
