A locking cycle that drags past its time limit produces F93 on freestanding self-cleaning electric ranges beginning 790 (2004 and newer) and on 2014 self-cleaning electric ranges from Kenmore. The glass touch ranges and Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel ranges carry the code too, though their manual calls it nothing more specific than a door lock failure.
790 and 2014 ranges
Everything on this list is for a technician: microswitch wiring to the control board, cams and rod that may bind in the latch and lock motor, a coil that tests open, and a motor that does not stop with the microswitch open. Also on the list is the oven door light switch, replaced if open. The oven control board is the end of the line.
Glass touch and Elite slide-in ranges
Slide-in models here: 790.3263, 790.3264, 790.4260, 790.4261, 790.4275, 790.4276. The manual proceeds like this.
- Power off, thirty seconds, power on, whenever the door will not lock or unlock.
- Lockout feature or clean cycle to make another try at locking.
- Cancel button for a door that stayed shut.
- No motor movement: cut power once more and look over the wires from the oven control board to the door lock assembly, reattaching or replacing as needed.
- Wiring in order: new door lock assembly, then the relay control board if nothing changes.
Related codes
- F94: lock attempts exceeded.
- F92: door open time exceeded.
- F95: a door lock failure on glass touch and slide-in ranges.
