Error codeF16
ApplianceRange
Elite 721 electric and double-oven gas
For these, the lower cavity read over 650 F while baking or broiling. The manual:
Unplug the range.
If F16 showed with the oven cold, measure the lower oven sensor. It should read 1,090 ohms at 77 F; replace it when it is off by more than 100 ohms.
If the oven was truly overheating, suspect a relay stuck on the oven control board, which means a new board.

On the glass touch electric freestanding range, F16 means the electronic board itself has failed. The Elite slide-in gas or dual-fuel group (790.4261, 790.4260, 790.3264, 790.3263, 790.4276 and 790.4275) lists a failed board as well, and the sequence there is to disconnect electrical power, wait 30 seconds, restore power, then replace the board if the code is back.

f18 names the lower oven temperature sensor as defective.
A lower oven that overheats should be switched off. To arrange Kenmore range repair in San Francisco or elsewhere in the Bay Area, call (415) 825-6393 with the code, the model number and what you reset or unplugged.
Model compatibility: Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so F16 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
