Error code4d/52
ApplianceRange
A Kenmore 665 model freestanding range displays 4d/52 when the oven door switch and the door lock switch report conflicting states. The manual lists it in one group with 4d/11, 4d/12 and 4d/51.
The oven light test
Everything starts with the light inside the oven. Open the door, shut it, and watch whether the light follows.
Light out of step with the door: the manual says to replace the oven door switch.
Light behaves normally: move on to the lock assembly wiring below.
Lock assembly wiring
Cut power to the range, or pull its plug.
Push any loose wires on the lock assembly harness back into place.
If the harness itself is damaged, it gets replaced.
If the lock assembly shows visible damage, it gets replaced as well.
Other codes to compare
4d/51: a second code for this same switch conflict
9d/12: a different fault, a defective oven door lock assembly
9d/31: a lock assembly error that appears in Clean mode
Kenmore range service in San Francisco
If 4d/52 keeps coming back on a range in San Francisco or elsewhere in the Bay Area, call (415) 825-6393 to set up a technician visit. Have the code, the model number and the result of the oven light test written down; the Kenmore range repair page describes the service.
Model compatibility: Kenmore reuses codes across series and model years, so 4d/52 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
